The story of Consolini Boat Service is a journey spanning over 90 years, intertwined with the waters of Lake Garda and the Consolini family's passion for navigation.
It all began in 1930, when Umberto Consolini, father of Luigi—the company's founder—started the business with a single motorboat.
In 1933, at the request of the Duke of Aquarone, he moved to Gardone Riviera to operate under the Duke's patronage. Even then, Gardone was already a renowned tourist destination for affluent visitors from Northern Europe, drawn by the lake's beauty and its attractions.
One of the most requested services was transportation to the Locanda San Vigilio, which at the time was run by an Irishman. Perceiving the potential of nautical tourism, Umberto decided to strike out on his own, purchasing a second motorboat.
However, the outbreak of the Second World War abruptly halted tourism: hotels were converted into hospitals or headquarters for the German government. Umberto was forced to place his motorboats at the disposal of General Wolff,
who was residing in Gardone in what is now the annex of the Hotel Savoy.
When the motorboats were requisitioned for operations on the Po River, Umberto obtained authorization to rent out rowboats in order to continue providing transport services, including those for convalescents discharged from hospitals.
With the end of the conflict, Umberto purchased two new motorboats and resumed operations, supported by the revival of tourism in Gardone. The young Luigi also began piloting the motorboats, initially under the supervision of his mother, who obtained a boating license to ensure the continuity of the family business.
In the 1950s, water skiing emerged as a new and highly sought-after attraction among wealthy young tourists. Luigi’s brother played an active role in the business during this period.
With the evolution of tourism in the 1990s, Luigi adapted the business to meet the needs of organized groups, purchasing two large 55-seat covered motorboats—ideal for school groups,
conference attendees, weddings, and excursions organized by tour operators.
In 2006, Luigi commissioned the construction of a 10-seat wooden motorboat in Venetian style, designed for individual clients and exclusive services.
The tourism crisis in Gardone prompted him to seek opportunities in other locations around the lake, despite the high costs associated with travel.
The year 2014 marked a turning point: the encounter with Paolo Marai, Claudio Francioso, and Nicolò Vianelli led to the creation of a new company, officially established in 2017 as Consolini Boat Service di Consolini Luigi & C. s.a.s.
The following year, the fleet expanded with the addition of the prestigious Riva Aquariva, followed in 2024 by the Colombo 27 Antibes, and in 2025 by the Colombo 31 Sportfisherman.
